Your hardwood floors have a polyurethane top layer of finish that protects your floors from damage. A polyurethane finish is essentially a plastic coating, forming a nice finish on wood. Over time the top layer of polyurethane begins to deteriorate due to normal wear and tear.
There are many reasons why the top layer of finish needs to be completely removed and reapplied.
The process starts by removing the original top lay of polyurethane finish. This is done using a screening disc and a low-speed buffer. We utilize equipment that collects the dust particles as we work so the contents in your home are protected.
The screen disc not only removes the top layer of finish, but it also abrades the floors to ensure a proper bond occurs when the hardwood floors are recoated with a new layer of polyurethane finish.
We use water based polyurethane products. Water-based polyurethanes are more environmentally friendly and safer to use than solvent-based.
There are four types of polyurethane finishes: matte, satin, semi-gross, and high gloss. Our most popular finish is a Satin Finish.
Have you used the following hardwood floor products?
Most people use these store-bought products to add a quick refreshing shine to dull hardwood floors. Over time these products can cause build-up and leave your floors looking cloudy and dull. Click on the videos on this page to see an example of floors with heavy wax build up.
Hardwood Floor Wax Removal is very labor intensive and that is why you should contact Family Value Cleaning Services today. If you have wax build up on your wood floors, we can schedule a free demo and estimate.
We start by testing the hardwood to determine if they have a top layer of acrylic polish. Acrylic Floor Polish can cause appearance issues over time and must be removed prior to refinishing.
If an acrylic polish is detected, we will apply a product to emulsify the acrylic polish. We agitate the floor using a low-speed buffer and an abrasive scrubbing pad. The residue is then extracted from the wood floor using a floor scrubber and another product to neutralize the floors.
If wax is being removed from a solid wood floor, then the floor will also need to be screened and recoated with polyurethane.
Cleaning and maintaining hardwood floors can be tedious, so leave the job to the professionals at Family Value Cleaning Services. Our Hardwood Floor Cleaning process can restore your hardwood floors and renew their beautiful finish.
Our Hardwood Floor Cleaning process will remove built up dirt and grime. A
floor cleaning solution will be applied to the floor and agitated with a low-speed buffer. We follow the buffing process with a neutral cleaner. A floor scrubber applies the neutral cleaning solution and then extracts the built-up dirt all in one easy pass.
