How to treat pet stains and urine odor

So let's talk about it! Your beloved pet has just had an accident on your carpet. At this point you probably have a lot of questions. What should you do next? What product should I use on the stain? What happens to the urine after it seeps down into the carpet backing and pad? 
If you are lucky enough to discover the urine stain while it is still moist and warm you should blot the affected area with a terry cloth towel to remove the excess urine. The next step would be to treat the stain with an approved product that will not hinder future cleaning efforts.

If you are unable to get to the stain in time and the urine penetrates the carpet backing and padding, you should contact a professional. Urine

Pet urine consist of uric acid, urochrome (the cause of yellow stains), lipids and other minor components. Moisture and warmth stimulates the growth of bacteria that break down urine into carbon dioxide, nitrogen and highly alkaline ammonia.
